June

4th June

Sang harmonies for every song

Both Tom and I share frees at school, and decided to rehearse our harmonies until we were satisfied with each song.

We began with Fit As A Fiddle to which we still showed some struggle singing alongside each other, we can't seem to hold our own harmonies when singing together, as mentioned previously. In our individual practice however, we are solid in our performance. However, with more practise like today, we will achieve our goals.

We then moved on to Moses Supposes which was a more successful session of rehearsal, with only some discrepency on the ending notes of the vocals. The problems were soon ironed out however and we successfully sang the song through.

I then requested we sing our bits in Broadway Ballet as on sunday I wasn't happy with my performance. We sang through it however and it went much better, and I am satisfied with how this one is going.

7th June

Choreographed the rest of Singin' In The Rain
Ran Act 2, staged the last scene

Sang through 'You Are My Lucky Star (Reprise)'
Tidied various dance numbers

Upon arrival, Jamie and I choreographed the rest of Singin' In The Rain. The finished product is a comedic, yet challenging piece of choreography that allows me to show off moves I've never really performed before. I like this as it was the original request I made to Jamie, that I want to show moves that are challenging to me but also look successful in the show itself.

We then began the scheduled rehearsal, running Act 2 with scripts down. This was actually quite successful, as I only needed a few prompts, which I was happy with, as we had never really covered Act 2 properly before now. When staging the last scene, we sang through You Are My Lucky Star (Reprise) as I hadn't done so before. This was ok, but I am not entirely confident with the low notes in the tune, and so I need to rehearse the song to gain confidence. The song is sung alongside Chloe, who is very strong vocally, and so personally I feel bad not being confident as it may throw her off. I also learnt a harmony line for the last couple of lines of the reprise, however again I need to rehearse them more for them to be to a standard sufficient for the show itself.

After this people put in requests for what dance numbers they wished to revise. Whilst this happened, I rehearsed some songs with Richard, the Co-Founder of STS. I went over harmonies for You Are My Lucky Star (Reprise) as well as singing it through multiple times until the words were drilled into me. The song frequently gets stuck in my head, which is good as I know keep running it through in my mind how I would perform it.

We tidied Broadway Ballet as several cast members forgot some of the dance moves, my self included. This was a useful section of the rehearsal as I'm now much more confident with the opening bit of the song where myself and Tom open the number. There isn't much in terms of choreography for myself to get involved in for it to look good on stage, as the symmetry would be slightly off, so I therefore have to act by myself and perform as Don Lockwood would, just selling his character and persona onto the stage.

Next week we will be running the entire show with costume, so I would like to go over everything with Tom in particular but would mainly like to make sure my lines are learnt and I know when my costume changes are.

12th June

After discussing costume ideas with the costume designer, Julie Porter, she informed me that she wanted my hair to be similar in style to Clark Gable, an actor in the 1900s. His hair was slick and sophisticated, a very 1930s hairstyle. I will try the hairstyle on sunday with the help of Joe Kelly, who has apparently got a hair product that could achieve that texture and style for me.

14th June

Rehearsed and finished Moses Supposes choreography
Rehearsed Singin' In The Rain choreography
Rehearsed Good Morning scene and choreography
Ran entire production with costumes

15th June

I created a costume list for all of my costume changes in the show. This will be stuck on my mirror in the changing room and given to Julie Porter so that she is aware of any quick changes I may need assistance for.
